The impending diagnostic radiology oral exam should be welcomed for aspiring radiologists, according to an article published January 5 in Academic Radiology. These include the diagnostic radiology qualifying exam and the diagnostic radiology certifying exam. The latter can be taken as early as 12 months after residency.

Under electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs), ACR said the Excessive Radiation Dose or Inadequate Image Quality for Diagnostic CT in Adults eCQM will become available at the start of the 2025 reporting year. It is notable that CMS will begin requiring hospitals to submit eCQM data for all measures beginning in 2028, the ACR said.

The goal of the changes is to include imaging links in certified EHRs by January 1, 2028, that enable the viewing or retrieval of images over a network. The agency will require that modules certified for this functionality enable the viewing and downloading of both diagnostic- and low-quality images, the ACR noted.
