The results of a scan of an overdue baby with medical concerns were not sent to the mother's midwife, resulting in the death of the baby, according to a November 17 report from the New Zealand Herald. In 2021, a radiology practice, Pacific Radiology, miscoded an ultrasound exam conducted at 41 weeks that showed low amniotic fluid – which resulted in the scan being sent "to nowhere," rather than to the mother's midwife, the Herald reported.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has launched an AI quality registry intended to monitor the performance of imaging AI algorithms in real-world clinical settings. The registry is called Assess-AI. It tracks AI results and collects information such as patient demographics, modality/exam data, and radiology report output so that radiology practices can analyze how clinical AI is operating in the practice over time and how it performs compared to national benchmarks, the ACR said.
