FDA clears Hyperfine Swoop software update

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared an update of Hyperfine's AI-powered software for its Swoop portable brain MRI system The software upgrade offers improved image quality for Swoop's diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) sequence by expanding its denoising capability, the company said. The new software will become available over the next few months, according to Hyperfine.

GE secures Stanford install for PCCT research study

GE HealthCare has secured an installation of its photon-counting CT prototype system at Stanford Medicine in California. The system includes GE's Deep Silicon detectors. Stanford will use it to "assess reconstruction methods, image presentation workflows, and clinical benefits for specific pathologies and disease types to help optimize [our] patented technology to enable better visualization and utilization," the company said.

Eleven Patients (5M, 6F) with post-operative thoracic duct injuries and high output chylothorax were treated with thoracic duct embolization (TDE). Six patients had intra-operative thoracic duct ligation at the time of original surgery. In all cases the pleural fluid demonstrated high triglyceride levels (414mg/dL, IQR 345). Median daily (IQR) chest tube outputs pre- and post-thoracic duct embolization were 900mL (1200mL) and 325 (630mL), respectively.
