The RSNA filed notices of a data security breach with the attorneys general of Massachusetts and Vermont on August 28. The incident involved an unauthorized party gaining access to the RSNA's network. After a forensic investigation and manual document review, on July 26 the RSNA discovered that between June 20 and June 26, certain impacted files containing personal information may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized individual, the notifications stated.

A team led by Akinori Hata, MD, of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston developed and tested 12 machine-learning algorithms and, for the top performer, found an area under the receiver operating curve (AUC) for predicting ILAs of 0.87.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared AZmed 's Rayvolve x-ray software for pediatric use. The announcement comes two years after FDA clearance for the use of the software in adult fracture detection , according to AZmed. A study with outpatient imaging network SimonMed Imaging played a key role in the clearance, AZmed said. The research included a dataset of 3,000 pediatric radiographs and demonstrated Rayvolve's sensitivity of 96%, specificity of 86%, and area under the curve

Women are less likely to return to breast cancer screening after false-positive mammography results, according to research published September 2 in the Annals of Internal Medicine. A team led by Diana Miglioretti, MD, from the University of California, Davis found that this trend especially goes for women recommended for short-interval follow-up or biopsy.
