MRI study of hip joints shows: Avascular necrosis involving bilateral capital femoral epiphysis. Modified Kerboul method is used for prediction of collapse in femoral head osteonecrosis by volumetric analysis on MRI. HOW IS IT CALCULATED ? The arc of the femoral surface involved by necrosis measured by angles on midcoronal (A) and midsagittal image (B) and then modified Kerboul angle (A+B) calculated by the sum of the two angles for both the joints.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of bone radiofrequency (RF) ablation in the spine with and without controlled saline infusion. RF ablation with and without controlled saline infusion was performed in the vertebral bodies of 2 swine with real-time temperature and impedance recordings. Histology and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging results were reviewed to evaluate the ablation zone size, breach of spinal canal, and damage to the spinal cord and nerves.

To investigate the risk factors affecting the improvement of sarcopenia after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in cirrhotic patients, this study retrospectively analyzed the data of 111 cirrhotic patients with sarcopenia who underwent TIPS creation. Computed tomography–based measurement of skeletal muscle area was used to calculate skeletal muscle index (SMI) in all patients at baseline and 6 months after TIPS creation.
