Here’s a slide from their big meeting earlier this year: I know some people in the radiology community think that when the debts come due that RP will go bankrupt and disappear, but that’s simply not going to happen. The secondary question is what happens to those rads waiting out their non-competes: Teleradiology forever?

This is a valid knock on teleradiology. When we draw a comparison between a typical academic center or hospital-based practice and teleradiology, we miss the fact that many, many radiology jobs are not team-based daily work. But ultimately, the distinction isn’t really teleradiology versus in-person.

Thomas was most recently Vice President of Operations and Integrations for Radiology Partners , the largest national radiology practice in the U.S. The two first worked together in 2006 at Nighthawk Radiology Services.

After residency, I was full of energy and had a solid plan: I’d work in private practice and take on a part-time job in teleradiology. That arrangement worked very well, and through remote radiology I was debt-free in less than a year. With my goal accomplished I left vRad behind to focus on my private radiology practice.
